Long, Healthy Hair - My Tips And Tricks

Some of the most frequent questions that I get asked are about my hair: if it's real, how do I keep it so long, and how it can grow while still being bleached (I have a hybrid ombré/balayage colouring.)  Yes, my hair is 100% real and though it is long and healthy now, that wasn't always the case.  Bleaching, hair weave - you name it, I've done it and my poor locks have suffered the consequences.  I've decided to resurrect one of my first blog posts detailing all of the tips and tricks that I discovered on how to grow long hair fast, all while keeping it healthy.

OOTD - Comme Une Française

Is it only me, or does knowing that Paris is only a plane ride away provide a unspeakable amount of comfort. Wanderlust has gotten a firm hold on me, as it does after I get home from all of my trips, and lately I've been longing for the streets of Paris. I still remember only a couple of summers ago admiring the simplicity and elegance that the Parisienne women possessed in their effortless way of dress.  Stripes paired with solids, minimal accessories and no-fuss hair and makeup - take me back!  Although my outfit channels more of the fairy-tale Paris that I keep in my head, I still love the look of a striped crop top and black swing skirt. After all, what self-respecting Parisienne women would wear a chunky heel with a short skirt?  Mon dieu!

OOTD - Stripes And A Floral Skirt

Can anyone else barely contain their excitement about the sunshine and warm weather      that Spring  brings along?  Granted there are still a few chilly days, but it almost makes those warm moments that much sweeter.  I've embraced the midi skirt in a big way, and this floral beauty had stolen my heat from the moment that I saw it!  I've always found that florals on a black background are a little tricky to style with anything other than black, so imagine my delight when I paired the skirt with a striped crop top and it worked.  Is there ever a time w here stripes and florals mixed together don't work?  I honestly don't think so!

Blog Talk - How I Promote My Blog Posts

Last night I had a great time meeting fellow blogger, the lovely Eleni from Bijuleni over some lattes and blog talk.  One of the best things about being a blogger is getting to meet so many amazing people in the same community and talk about our different styles and techniques when it comes to blogging.  A topic that comes up consistently is the different ways bloggers promote their own blog posts.  Everyone has different strategies and platforms that they promote their blog posts to, and I always come away from these conversations having learned something new!  So let's pretend that we're sitting in a cute café with some tea or coffee - Here are the ways that I promote my blog posts after I push 'publish'.

OOTD - Blush Dress For Spring

As someone who recently switched up professions from shift-work to a steady Monday to Friday 9 - 5 job, having every single weekend off is a new luxury.  Couple my new schedule with the fact that the weather in Toronto has been absolutely stunning lately, and I feel as though I've been enjoying Spring at the absolute fullest!  Toronto is really beautiful this time of year, and I've been packing my days with exploring new parts of the city.  This Sunday in particular Brian and I headed to The University of Toronto campus to see the blooming trees and I couldn't have been more comfortable than in this blush slip dress, with the addition of my favourite long cardigan (last seen here) for some modesty and warmth.  Read on to see the full outfit, and for details.

OOTD - White Midi Skirt

People have asked me if it feels different to be 30, and typically my answer is no - besides, in my head I'm still 23!  The one major difference that I've noticed about being 30, or just getting older in general, is that I'm favouring a longer hemline.  Don't get me wrong I still love a good mini skirt, but I've been drawn to the simple elegance that the midi skirt has to offer.  When I saw this white lace midi skirt, I knew that it had to be mine.  The hemline makes it work appropriate in the warmer months, and I love the way that it looks with a pair of nude heels.  The skirt is high-waisted, so it pairs with this striped crop top perfectly.  Add a touch of leopard, and I'm in love!

Skirt - Forever 21, Striped Top - Forever 21
Nude Heels - Banana Republic, Clutch - Clare V

I'm still so tickled with this leopard Clare V clutch.  I know that it was sold out everywhere at some point, but I believe that they're back in stock!  I'm so glad that I have it in my collection, it's the perfect way to add some interest and texture to any outfit.

What are your thoughts on the midi skirt?

#OOTD - Outfits Of Instagram

With the sun shining and weather improving, I've been working on overdrive - on Instagram that is!  As much as I would love to post every day on La Petite Noob, my schedule and that of my photographer (Brian) just doesn't allow for it.  My Instagram on the other hand - well, that's a different story!  I post daily outfit photos and shots from out and about in Toronto that oftentimes don't make it onto the blog.  Check out what I've been up to (and wearing) lately through the lens of my iPhone

It's clear to me that this Spring I've been favouring bold patterns.  I love the way a pattern can transform an otherwise plain outfit into something special.  I've been combing through racks at my favourite stores, trying to find more patterned pieces to add to my wardrobe.

What have you been into this Spring?

OOTD - The Oversized Long Cardigan

Is there anything better than sweater weather - especially when that sweater can be worn sans jacket? To me, nothing announces the arrive of Spring than finally packing my jackets away for the season and turning to something lighter.  I've been loving long cardigans lately for their versatility, warmth and bonus booty-covering capabilities.  A long cardigan paired with an all black outfit with destroyed black denim offers some balance, and I know that it will take me right into the early summer months. Read on for additional photos and outfit details.
