Although I've been trying to incorporate some Fall pieces into my regular clothing rotation, on Sunday I felt inclined to give Summer another hurrah and dress in billowy and flowy pastels. You guys know how much I love my maxi skirts, and this blush pink one has made many an appearance on the blog (see here, here and here.) Normally I'm one to advocate pairing a flowing maxi skirt with a tighter shirt on top for some balance - especially as a petite girl - but lately I've been really feeling a loose blouse with a wider bottom. The silhouette is not stereotypically flattering, but I think adds a bit of interest and can really change up your look. The fact that is feels like you're walking around in the most luxurious pyjamas doesn't hurt either.

I'll admit, I have been very slow to jump on the whole cut-out-shoulders bandwagon and am still undecided on my feelings towards it. This particular shoulder-less top has almost changed my mind on the trend. With the large lace detail and wide, boxy cut this blouse has been on high rotation this summer, pairing nicely with high-waisted shorts and my maxi skirt collection.
Are you guys feeling the boxy silhouette this outfit produces, or are you more into the balance of a maxi skirt and tighter top? How have you ventured out of your clothing comfort zone, and how has it made you feel? Let me know!
This outfit is so dreamy! You look gorgeous! I like how your dark nails add a bit of drama, too.ReplyDelete
Thanks Gabriella! Now that we're heading into fall, I'm resurrecting my dark polish collection!Delete
I love how you shot this in different locations... and you look ah-mazing in this skirt. These pastels suit you so well <3ReplyDelete
Thanks Sabrina! I've definitely been having a love affair with pastels this summer. I'll be sad to pack them up for the season!Delete
I love the combination of a flowy top and bottom -- as you said: luxurious pajamas. It also gives a cool bohemian vibe imo. Especially with an off the shoulder top.ReplyDelete
xx Abby a geek tragedy
Thanks Abby! Yes, the silhouette felt super bohemian to me, and I was sold on how ridiculously comfortable the outfit was!Delete
I love this skirt, and the top is so pretty!ReplyDelete

Thanks Kris! The blouse is super out of my comfort zone, but it's slowly growing on me! The cut-out-shoulder trend is one of those where you love it on everyone else, but can't seem to warm up to it on yourself.Delete
Such a stunning skirt and blush is one of my favourite colours! Also really love the blouse! xReplyDelete
Thank you! Blush is one of my favourite colours as well!Delete
