OOTD - Black Maxi Skirt for Winter

I have one word to sum up my weekend: Snow.  That's right, Mother Nature decided that we were having a bit too easy of a Winter in Toronto and she remedied that by dumping a mountain of snow on us.  Most of my plans for the weekend were canceled, but I still managed to get out and about to run some errands and I did so in a maxi skirt.  I know that maxi skirts and dresses are normally associated with Spring and Summer looks, but I enjoy a good maxi skirt in the Winter as well.  This weekend in particular, I really enjoyed the juxtaposition of a monochromatic black maxi skirt and sweater against a Winter wonderland background.  Read on to see how I styled a long skirt for the Winter time.

Skirt - Asos, Sweater - Club Monaco, Booties - Target
Lip - Mac's Beet Lipliner and Rebel Lipstick

The biggest tip that I have for styling maxi skirts and dresses in the winter time is to keep colours in the darker palette, and to layer underneath. I'm definitely wearing my trusty fleece-lined tights underneath the skirt so that I don't freeze.

What do you think about wearing maxi skirts and dresses in the Winter?  Let me know!

  2. Love these photos!! You look so gorgeous! I definitely agree with keeping skirts/dresses in a darker palette in winter time. Unfortunately, I tend to avoid them in general most of the winter because I walk for a large portion of my commute :(

  4. At least the snow this weekend was pretty fluffy snow and not that awful wet snow we had earlier in the week - it made for great photo taking, and the cold wasn't so bad while it was actually snowing! That lip colour looks stunning on you!

  5. I wear my black maxi all the time in winter, usually with flats though. I'll have to give it a try with boots. Stay warm!
